Last Weekend

Hi again!
FR: Re-coucou!

Last weekend was fantastic. As I wrote, I went to a shoot with one of our teacher. A friend of his wrote, directed and acted in the film. I was gaffer/grip and actor for a very small part.

FR: Le weekend passe etait fantastic. Comme je l'ai ecrit, je suis aller sur un tournage avec un de nos profs. Un de ces amis a ecrit, dirige and etait acteur principal dans le film. J'etais pour la lumiere et le transport du materiel ainsi qu'acteur pour une toute petite partie.

3 actors were from the TV show 24. It's just incredible to work with that kind of actors. They are amazing and I love to work with these guys, they're awesome!

FR: 3 acteurs etaient du show TV 24 heures chrono. C'etait simplement incroyable de travailler avec ce genre d'acteurs. Ils sont parfait et j'adore travaille avec ces acteurs-la, ils sont geniaux!

Lake House & Click

Hi everybody!
FR: Bonjour tout le monde!

A couple of days ago, we went to the movie theater and watched 2 movies.
FR: Il y a quelques jours, nous sommes alle voir deux films.

The first one is "The Lake House" with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. After "Speed" around 10 years ago, the 2 actors are back together again on the screen for this gorgeous film.

FR: Le premier est "The Lake House" avec Keanu Reeves et Sandra Bullock. Apres "Speed" quelque chose comme il y a 10 ans, les deux acteurs se retrouvent sur le grand ecran pour ce films superbe.

The second one is called "Click" with Adam Sandler. We expected a funny movie and actually, it was very good, sensitive and the actors were again, fantastic. Kate Beckinsale is fabulous, Adam Sandler very good and Christopher Walken terrific.

FR: Le deux film s'appelle "Click" avec Adam Sandler. On pensait aller voir un film drole, mais en fait, il est tres tres bien, un film d'une grande sensibilite avec des acteurs egalement fantastiques. Kate Beckinsale est fabuleuse, Adam Sandler tres bon et Christopher Walken simplement incroyable.

Film Business

Hello!
FR: Hello!

A short post to say that I'm going to edit a short scene for actors who graduated in May 2006. I shot a scene from the film Closer with them. It was directed buy our teacher Adam. I was the boom guy (sound).

FR: Un petit message pour dire que je vais faire le montage d'une scene pour deux acteurs qui ont fini en Mai 2006. J'ai tourne cette scene avec elles. C'etait dirige par mon prof Adam. J'etais le gars du son.

The actors edited the scene by their own and I offered to them to do it again from a director point of view (not actor).
FR: Les acteurs ont fait le montage elles-memes. J'ai propose de le refaire d'un point de vue directeur (et non acteur).

Other than that, I'm going to shoot a film this weekend from Friday to Sunday (12 hours a day) as a gaffer/grip (lights and move stuff around).
FR: Autrement, je vais tourner un film ce weekend de Vendredi a Dimanche (12 heures par jour) en tant que gars pour la lumiere ainsi que pour bouger le materiel.

A small part for me as an actor too :-)
FR: Une petite partie ou je devrais etre acteur egalement :-)

Thesis Film - Lot to do

Hi guys!
FR: Salut a tous!

I'm still working a lot on my Thesis film and I just finished class. Actually, it was our last class at the New York Film Academy.
FR: Je suis toujours en train de travaille sur mon film de these et je viens tout juste de terminer les cours. En fait, c'etait le dernier cours a la New York Film Academy.

Now, we still have something around 2 weeks of preproduction and then, we will be shooting for 2 weeks, then we'll be 2 weeks editing. In 6 weeks, we will go back on set to shoot 3 other weeks and finish 6 weeks in postproduction for more editing, music and visual effects. (Summary: 2 weeks of prep / 2 weeks of shooting / 2 weeks of editing / 3 weeks of shooting / 6 weeks in postproduction).

FR: A present, nous avons encore environ 2 semaines de preproduction, ensuite, nous allons tourner pendant 2 semaines puis 2 semaines de montage. Dans 6 semaines, nous repartons pour 3 semaines de tournage et on finira avec 6 semaines en postproduction pour du montage supplementaire, music et effets speciaux. (Resume: 2 semaines de prep / 2 semaines de tournage / 2 semaines de montage / 3 semaines de tournage / 6 semaines de postproduction).

As you can see, I won't be able to leave a lot of posts on my blog within the next weeks, but I'll do my best.
FR: Comme vous pouvez le constater, je ne vais pas pouvoir mettre beaucoup de messages sur mon blog durant les prochaines semaines, mais je ferai de mon mieux.

FR: Hello!

Some news on my blog to let you know that we're doing fine here in L.A., our apartment is beautiful in a perfect area and we just got a car for Fabienne.

FR: Quelques nouvelles sur mon blog pour vous dire qu'on se porte bien ici a L.A., notre appart est nickel dans une ville tres agreable et on vient de trouver une voiture pour Fabienne.

On my side, I'm working a lot on my Thesis Film, meaning on the script and on the preparation of my casting cession which will take place on Wednesday. On Tuesday, I'll be in the Editing room to edit what we shot last Friday.

FR: De mon cote, je travaille beaucoup sur mon film de these, donc sur le script et le casting qui aura lieu ce mercredi. Mardi prochain, je vais etre dans la salle de montage pour faire le film qu'on a tourne vendredi.

Yesterday, we had a class about an amazing software which allows you to create very good storyboards in 3D and it was freacking awesome.

FR: Hier, on a eu une classe sur un fabuleux programme qui permet de creer de tres bons stroyboards en 3D et c'etait absolument grandiose.

Editing: The Place To Be

Hi everybody!
FR: Bonjour a tous!

We went to an editing room today in the Universal Studios. We met the editor of the TV show Law & Order: Victim Special Unit. It was very very very interesting to touch the real world of editing. They actually use AVID and not Final Cut Pro.

FR: Nous sommes alle dans une salle de montage aujourd'hui dans les studios Universal. On a rencontre le monteur du show TV New York: Unite Speciale. C'etait tres tres tres interessant de toucher le monde reel du montage. En fait, il travaille sur AVID et non sur Final Cut Pro.

The person we met has already worked on films and other TV shows, Buffy. Depending on the show, the editing style is totally different in the "cuts".

FR: La personne que nous avons rencontre a deja travaille sur des films et d'autres shows TV, notamment Buffy. Selon les shows TV, les methodes de montage sont totalement differentes au niveau des "cuts".

I want to work as an editor, and why not in the Universal Studios, it smells dream.
FR: Je veux travailler en tant qu'editeur et pourquoi pas aux studios Universal, ca sent le reve.

The Break-Up

FR: Salut!

I saw The Brek-Up yesterday in La Canada and it was a very very good movie.
FR: J'ai vu le film The Break-Up hier a La Canada et c'etait un tres bon film.

Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn are just perfect. She's sweet and he's a man who doesn't understand his girlfriend, like almost all of us, guys. She's crazy but is exactly like all the women around the world.

Jennifer Aniston et Vince Vaughn sont parfaits. Elle est adorable et lui est un homme qui ne comprend pas sa moitie, comme nous tous, les hommes. Elle est un peu folle mais est exactement comme toutes les femmes de la planete.

I just can tell you that you have to see this movie. And enjoy it!
FR: Je vais juste vous dire d'aller voir ce film et d'en profiter!

As maybe some of you have noticed, my blog as changed.
FR: Comme peut-etre certains d'entres vous l'ont remarque, mon blog a change.

There is a picture of me with my first camera ;-) and some new links. The blue color I added is, from my point of view, better and makes it easier to read.
