Panasonic High Definition

FR: Salut!

Next step on the cinemtography side is the High Definition camera.
FR: Le prochain pas en cinematographie est la camera haute definition.

The school taught us the Panasonic HD yesterday and what this camera can do is just amazing. It really look like film and the quality is unbelievable!

FR: L'ecole nous a enseigne la Panasonic HD hier et ce que cette camera peut faire est simplement hallucinant. Ca a le look du film et la qualite est incroyable!

We're gonna shoot stuff with this camera, look how it looks on the screen and then I will decide if I will shoot my thesis on 16mm film or on HD Digital.

FR: On va tourner quelque chose avec cette camera, regarder sur l'ecran comment ca donne et ensuite, je deciderai si je filme ma these en 16mm film ou en digitl haut definition.

A lot of things have been going on within the last 2 weeks.
FR: Beaucoup de choses se sont passes ces 2 dernieres semaines.

During the 35mm workshop, Keren from Switzerland came to visit me in L.A. It was a big and very very nice surprise.

FR: Pendant le workshop 35mm, Keren de Suisse est venue me visiter a L.A. C'etait une grande et tres tres bonne surprise.

She was on her tour of the world and came to the USA right after Australia.
FR: Elle fait un tour du monde est est venue aux Etats-Unis juste apres l'Australie.

And then, I moved in my new apartment with Fabienne.
FR: Et apres ca, on a demenage dans notre nouvel appart avec Fabienne.

There we go, we're together again in the country where all the dreams come true.

FR: Au sujet de l'ecole, on travaille sur le 2eme draft des scripts finaux.

35MM Workshop

There we go, the 35mm Workshop on a Panavision Camera used by the best directors and directors of photography has been in my hands.

FR: Ca y est, le workshop 35mm sur la camera Panavision utilisee par les meilleurs directeurs et directeurs de la photographie a passe dans mes mains.

It's amazing how big, heavy and expensive this camera is. This is much much better than filming anything with a digital camera, of course.

FR: C'est impressionnant comme cette camera est grande, lourde et chere. C'est tellement mieux que de filmer quelque chose avec la camera digitale, evidemment.

Second Semester Has Started

Hi!
FR: Hello!

There we go, the 2nd Semester has started yet. After a quarter on digital (24P), we go back to film. I can feel my passion for the film. I'm still not a big fan of digital.

FR: On y est, le 2eme semestre vient de commencer. Apres un trimestre sur le digital (24P), on est de retour sur le film. Je rescens ma passion pour le film. Je ne suis toujours pas un grand passionne du digital.

So, this week is gonna be a 16mm color sync sound and next week is gonna be magic with the 35mm the whole week. It's gonna be awesome and just like a dream.

FR: Donc cette semaine, on est sur le 16mm couleur sync avec son et la semaine prochaine sera magique avec le 35mm toute la semaine. Ca va etre grandiose, comme un reve.

I'm thinking about what I'll use for my final film. Digital looks not that bad and is very cheap. But the 16mm looks very good (not as good as 35 though) but costs something like USD 1000.- for 1 hour versus digital USD 5.- for 1 hour. But experience of the film is probably worth the 1000 dollars.

FR: Je suis en train de penser comment je vais tourner mon film final. Le digital n'est pas trop mal et est tres peu cher. Mais le 16mm est superbe (pas aussi bon que le 35) mais le cout est gigantesque, genre USD 1000.- pour une heure de film contre USD 5.- pour le digital pour 1 heure. Mais l'experience du film vaut probablement les 1000 dollars.

Well, my point is what is the best on my resume ? Digital or film ? The answer is probably film, so, I'll see. And no way for the 35, it costs USD 600.- for 10 minutes, this is definitely way to expensive. Last point for the film, I would be almost the only student on film, the others want to shoot on digital execpt for both of them. Good point for me.

FR: Le truc c'est qu'est-ce qui est mieux sur mon CV ? Digital ou film ? La reponse est probablement film, donc, je verrai bien. Et impossible pour le 35, ca coute USD 600.- pour 10 minutes. C'est definitvement beaucoup trop cher. Dernier point pour le film, je serais plus ou moins le seul etudiant sur film, les autres veulent tourner sur le digital a l'exception de deux autres. Bon point pou moi.

Mission: Impossible 3

I saw Mission Impossible III the day when it was launched meaning on May 5th. This film is really good and some shots are just unbelievable! Tom Cruise has to save his wife from the last Oscar winner Philipp Seymour Hofman.

FR: J'ai Mission Impossible III le jour de son lancement, soit le 5 mai. Ce film est vraiment bon et quelques prises de vue sont simplement incroyable. Tom Cruise doit sauver sa femme du dernier meilleur acteur aux Oscars, Philipp Seymour Hofman.

FR: Salut!!!

As written in the previous post, I worked 3 days during my holidays:

- 5 hours on Friday with my teacher. He directed a scene at school
- 17 hours on Saturday for a TV pilot in an amazing house (check out the picture)
- 12 hours on Sunday for the same director in the same house

FR: Comme ecrit dans le precedent message, j'ai travaille 3 jours pendant mes vacances:

- 5 heures avec mon prof. Il a dirige une scene avec des etudiants
- 17 heures samedi pour un pilot pour la TV dans une maison hallucinante (jettez un coup d'oeil a la photo)
- 12 heures dimanche pour le meme directeur dans la meme maison

It was tough, but fantastic. The experience was very interesting. See other directors who are not students, work with non-student actors is very useful for me.

FR: C'etait rude mais fantastique. L'experience etait tres interessante. Voir d'autres directeurs qui ne sont pas des etudiants travailler avec des acteurs pas etudiant egalement est tres utile pour moi.

Last week, I was on holidays so I rested a little bit and I did some sightseeing tours.

FR: La semaine derniere, j'etais en vacances, je me suis donc repose un peu et fait un peu de tourisme.

I went to the Ronald Reagan's Library and I saw the President's oval Office and the amazing Air Force One.

FR: Je suis alle au musee Ronald Reagan and j'ai vu le bureau oval et l'incroyable Air Force One.

I also looked for a new apartment which I found and worked 3 days.

FR: J'ai egalement cherche un nouvel appart que j'ai trouve et travaille 3 jours.
